Mahoning Soil & Water Educates Next Generation at Virtual JA Inspire Event

Mahoning Soil & Water Conservation District recently joined businesses across the Mahoning Valley to educate middle- and high-school students as part of Junior Achievement’s virtual College, Career and Trades Inspire event.

The day-long virtual event, which unfolded Nov. 19, showcased career pathing, digital booth exhibitors from local businesses, colleges and trade industries, on-demand personal and professional development webinars and a digital career guidebook. Students could choose a self-guided or teacher-led experience complete with interactive features.

Participating as a local business exhibitor, Mahoning SWCD hosted a digital booth containing an array of educational resources and videos. Soil health, plastics, tree planting and stormwater awareness were among the featured booth topics.

During the event, participants saved 15,596 documents, virtually visited 25,117 booths and watched more than 3,600 videos. JA Inspire content will remain available for 90 days to provide continued learning opportunities for students and their parents. An estimated 7,000 students are expected to access the content over the next three months.
