Mahoning SWCD and Armstrong Team Up to Fight Hunger

Mahoning County, OH — The Mahoning County Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) is proud to partner with Armstrong for the 8th Annual Avenge Hunger Month, a community-wide initiative dedicated to fighting food insecurity and supporting families in need.

Running from Monday, August 25 through Sunday, October 5, Avenge Hunger Month encourages residents to donate food items that will directly benefit local neighbors who are struggling with hunger.

“We’re excited to partner with Armstrong to help Knock Out Hunger in our community,” said Mahoning SWCD Executive Director Kathi Vrable-Bryan. “Together, we can make a powerful impact and ensure no neighbor goes hungry.”

Donations of canned fruits, vegetables, soups, and meats, along with peanut butter and jelly, applesauce, cereal, oatmeal, granola bars, fruit or vegetable juice, pasta, and rice are especially needed. If you would like to donate items, and/or monetary donations, you can do so by delivering them to the collection bin outside of the Mahoning SWCD office at 850 Industrial Road, Youngstown, Ohio 44509.

Over the past seven years, Armstrong’s Breaking Bread initiative has raised awareness of food insecurity while providing critical support for food banks and pantries across the region. Thanks to the generosity of local residents, the campaign continues to grow stronger each year.

This year, Mahoning SWCD invites everyone to get involved, give back, and help ensure no one in the community goes hungry.
