Deadline Approaches to Apply for USDA’s EQIP Conservation Funds
The Mahoning County Soil & Water Conservation District is reminding local landowners of an approaching deadline to apply for federal government financial or technical assistance for a variety of practices that address conservation resource concerns.
The deadline to apply for support through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Ohio Environmental Quality Incentives Program is Friday, Jan. 15.
This program provides financial assistance for specific activities that promote conservation of land, water and wildlife habitat. Financial and one-on-one assistance is available for structural, vegetative and management practices – like improving irrigation efficiency, restoring pasture and protecting wildlife habitat or pollinator populations – on eligible agricultural land or forestland.
Applicants should be farmers or landowners and must meet eligibility criteria.

The Mahoning SWCD helps farmers and landowners by assessing and performing inventories of environmentally sensitive areas and assisting with best management practices. District technicians perform inspections and help landowners identify and access government programs that suit their needs. For more information, contact our office.
