District Outreach and Education Specialist Joins Mahoning SWCD
The Mahoning Soil & Water Conservation District announced the addition of Zack Felger as their District Outreach and Education Specialist.
Felger will provide resources and technical assistance on storm water and conservation education initiatives, including programs to prevent or reduce pollutant runoff from municipal operations, and encourage public involvement and volunteerism to improve water quality.
Prior to his role at Mahoning SWCD, he served as an Educator and Naturalist at Mill Creek MetroParks and as a Naturalist Intern for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources at Pymatuning State Park.
Felger earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Youngstown State University, specializing in Aquatic Ecology and Forestry.
The Mahoning County Soil & Water Conservation District advances best management practices for conserving land and water resources by providing education, technical assistance and stewardship. Established in 1950, the District is staffed by a small team of environmental professionals who lead efforts in community and school outreach, agricultural project support, stormwater control, watershed protection, pond management and more. The District is governed by a five-member volunteer board of supervisors and maintains offices at 850 Industrial Road in Youngstown.
