Election Approaches for Mahoning Soil & Water District Board of Supervisors
The Mahoning Soil & Water Conservation District recently announced details for its annual election of supervisors.
In-person voting will take place from Oct. 10 through Nov. 8, anytime between 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the SWCD office located at 850 Industrial Road in Youngstown.
An absentee ballot can also be requested by contacting the district office at (330) 740-7995 or askswcd@mahoningcountyoh.gov.
Voting is open to the public. Voters must be at least 18 years old and live or own land in Mahoning County.
Four candidates are running for two open positions on the district’s volunteer board of supervisors, the five-member body that governs the agency. They are:
- AJ Baltes
- Elayne M. Bozick
- Jerry A. Rockhold (incumbent)
- Matthew Schiedel
The elected members will serve three-year terms beginning Jan. 1, 2022.
The board of supervisors creates and enforces policies and determines the strategic planning and goals of the district. Supervisors also act as ambassadors for the district in their communities.
