Election Approaches for Mahoning Soil & Water District Board Supervisor

 

The Mahoning County Soil & Water Conservation District recently announced details for its annual Election of Supervisors.

In-person voting will take place Oct. 21 through Nov. 3, anytime between 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the SWCD office located at 850 Industrial Road in Youngstown.

Individuals may also request an absentee ballot application by contacting the district office at (330) 740-7995 or askswcd@mahoningcountyoh.gov. Absentee ballots are available now and must be submitted by close of business Nov. 3.

Voting is open to the public. Voters must be at least 18 years old and live or own land in Mahoning County.

Three candidates are running for one position on the district’s volunteer board of supervisors, the five-member body that governs the agency. They are:

  • Thomas A. Nock, P.E., S.I., M.Eng.
  • Elayne Bozick
  • Michael Harvey

The new member will be elected to a three-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2021.

The member will help create and enforce policies and determine the strategic planning and goals of the District. He/she will also act as an ambassador for the district in his/her community.

The Mahoning County Soil & Water Conservation District advances best management practices for conserving land and water resources by providing education, technical assistance and stewardship. Established in 1950, the District is staffed by a small but effective team of environmental professionals who lead efforts in community and school outreach, stormwater control, watershed protection, pond management and more.
