There’s Still Time to Donate for Avenge Hunger Month

Mahoning County, OH — The Mahoning County Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) reminds the community that there’s still time to participate in the 8th Annual Avenge Hunger Month, running through Sunday, October 5. This annual initiative, in partnership with Armstrong, aims to fight food insecurity and support local families in need.

Residents are encouraged to donate food items that will directly help neighbors who are struggling with hunger. Items in high demand include canned fruits, vegetables, soups, and meats, peanut butter and jelly, applesauce, cereal, oatmeal, granola bars, fruit or vegetable juice, pasta, and rice. Monetary donations are also welcome. Donations can be dropped off at the collection bin outside the Mahoning SWCD office, located at 850 Industrial Road, Youngstown, Ohio 44509.

“We’re excited to partner with Armstrong to help Knock Out Hunger in our community,” said Mahoning SWCD Executive Director Kathi Vrable-Bryan. “Even a small donation can make a big difference, and together, we can ensure no neighbor goes hungry.”

Over the past seven years, Armstrong’s Breaking Bread initiative has raised awareness of food insecurity while providing critical support for food banks and pantries across the region. The campaign has grown stronger each year thanks to the generosity of local residents.

Mahoning SWCD encourages everyone to join the effort, give back, and help make sure no one in the community goes without food. There’s still time to make a meaningful impact—your donation matters.
